Since 1891, the University of Michigan School of Nursing has worked to advance health for all by educating and developing nurses and other professionals as leaders; generating and applying knowledge; and serving individuals, communities, and populations.
Today, our more than 14,000 alumni serve in hospitals, research laboratories, and boardrooms around the world where they deliver life-saving care, develop new therapies, and lead health care institutions to better solutions. Our nurses do not just touch millions of lives– they transform them.

Campaign Priorities
The Look to Michigan campaign is focused on four key priorities that will shape the future of nursing at the University of Michigan School of Nursing. Each priority is designed to address the urgent challenges facing health care and ensure that Michigan nurses are at the forefront of providing solutions. Provide Student Support
- Increase scholarships and financial aid to remove barriers for undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. students.
- Support Ph.D. students to build a pipeline of future nurse educators and address the nationwide shortage.
Attract and Retain Faculty
Establish new endowed professorships and other faculty funds to recruit and retain top nursing educators and researchers.
Increase faculty resources and infrastructure to support a growing student population and high-quality teaching.
Expand Access to Key Programs
Advance research in critical areas such as health equity, symptom science, and Big Data for global impact.
Expand global health initiatives to provide students with valuable learning opportunities and broaden perspectives.
Expand Critical Facilities
Upgrade and expand classrooms, labs, and student spaces to accommodate growing enrollment and foster innovation.
Equip high-tech labs and create state-of-the-art learning environments to prepare students for modern health care challenges.
