Dr. Brough’s expertise includes developing knowledge of the role that positive emotions play in health and illness. Her dissertation work focused on using a model of positive emotions to explore the experience of sexual desire in healthy women along with the associated emotional and cognitive variables. More recently, her work has focused on understanding the role of emotions in chronic illness, specifically in women with hypertension. Her recent work on the WHEELS project has allowed her to expand her developing knowledge of research processes through an established clinical project using tailored messages to help women reduce hypertension using the DASH eating plan. This research experience allows her to translate knowledge into clinical education and support experiences for developing projects with CNS adjunct faculty members and evidence based practice knowledge support for staff.
