Search Advisory Committee Named for Next UMSN Dean
Jun 02, 2015The committee has been charged with conducting a broad search and presenting a slate of recommended candidates to the provost during Winter Term 2016.
On May 13, 2015, University of Michigan Provost Martha Pollack named an advisory committee to search for a new dean of the U-M School of Nursing (UMSN). UMSN Alumna Empowers Nurses to Help Patients Affected by Extreme Heat
May 26, 2015The new program, which helps patients stay “cool and healthy” in their own homes, is already showing success and potential for expansion.

May 06, 2015University of Michigan School of Nursing commemorated the achievements of graduates with a celebratory commencement ceremony and reception for students, family, friends, and faculty.
One of the largest crowds in University of Michigan School of Nursing (UMSN) history attended the School’s annual commencement ceremony at Hill Auditorium on May 2, 2015. Apr 21, 2015The two undergraduates competed in a national intercollegiate boxing tournament, cheered on by nursing faculty and peers.
“We worked really hard going into Nationals,” said University of Michigan School of Nursing senior Layne Dettor. “We were working out 15-20 hours a week.”
Nursing students are known to have one of the most difficult schedules of all undergraduate majors due to required clinical rotations on top of a substantial curriculum. That doesn’t keep them from pursuing a “powerful” variety of extracurricular activities.

Apr 15, 2015The nursing honor society also welcomed dozens of new members during its annual ceremony. Excellence in nursing leadership, service, practice and education was celebrated during Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) Rho Chapter’s new member induction and awards ceremony. Held at the Michigan Union, the event welcomed the next generation of nursing leaders with the induction of more than 90 new members. UMSN Nurse Practitioner Students Join Efforts to Help Human Trafficking Victims
Apr 14, 2015The students traveled to Ethiopia for on-the-ground planning of a comprehensive clinic.
“It’s our hope that this clinic will make a difference in the lives of human trafficking victims,” says Anna Kern, a University of Michigan School of Nursing (UMSN) nurse practitioner student. “Right now, many victims end up exactly where they started because there isn’t a comprehensive model in place to help them move to the next phase. They need support with health care, school, reestablishing relationships with family, ongoing mental support services, and job integration.”
