Professor Julia Seng, Ph.D., named associate dean of strategic affairs
Oct 27, 2017Effective January 1, 2018, Seng will help lead UMSN's most critical strategic projects.
"She is an extremely clear thinker with an incisive view of strategies and their implementation," said Dean Hurn. "In her new role, she will be perfectly positioned to move forward important strategic projects necessary for UMSN to be all that it can, and should, be."

Student spotlight: Increasing opportunities through the Student Nurses’ Association
Oct 26, 2017When Karissa Koomen took on the role of president of the Student Nurses’ Association (SNA) at the University of Michigan’s School of Nursing (UMSN), she and fellow board members knew they wanted to make a significant change.
“We had great events but our attendance was not the best,” said the UMSN senior. “A lot of students were missing out on the benefits so we decided to change the format from open meetings to having actual members.”

Community health immersion in India (Photo essay)

Each summer, the University of Michigan School of Nursing leads a community health immersion experience in India. This year, 10 nursing students were joined by seven students from U-M‘s College of Literature, Science and the Arts (LSA).
The two and a half week trip traditionally begins with a tour of India’s Golden Triangle. The students visited three of India’s most popular destinations- Delhi, Agra and Jaipur- to explore India’s culture and history. Oct 18, 2017Kayoung Lee is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Michigan School of Nursing, in the department of systems, populations, and leadership. She is a recipient of the Karl C.K. Ma Endowed Graduate Scholarship fund, an endowment intended to support careers in public service by providing student funding to graduate students in the Schools of Nursing, Education and Social Work.
