U-M School of Nursing’s Research Day 2022 explores ‘Perspectives on Health Equity’ with research blitz presentations from students

The U-M School of Nursing hosted its 11th Research Day on April 12-14 in a hybrid format, including virtual blitz presentations featuring research from students, faculty, staff and alumni. The 2022 theme focused on ‘Perspectives on Health Equity’ and brought together diverse voices representing various experiences, roles and disciplines in addressing inequities that exist in health and health care.

In addition to over 65 virtual blitz presentations, the 2022 event included the Suzanne H. Brouse Lecture featuring Dr. Larissa Larsen, a panel discussion on Leveraging Diverse Voices for Health Equity, moderated by Dr. Michael O’Rourke and featuring Drs. Sheria Robinson-Lane, Massey Mutumba and Charles Yingling, and plenary speaker Dr. Angela Richard-Eaglin. The event also included a community watch party and the opportunity to attend an in-person networking session. 

During the event, digital awards were given to recognize the best research blitz presentation from an undergraduate researcher, a graduate researcher and a faculty, staff, alumni or postdoctoral researcher.

The Medvec Nursing Innovation Award, typically announced during Research Day, is now accepting proposals from graduate students. All U-M School of Nursing MSN and DNP students are encouraged to apply for the $3,000 award made possible by the generosity and vision of alumna Barbara Medvec and her husband, Michael Medvec. The award recipient will be asked to prepare a poster and present their findings at an all-School event in the spring of 2023.
