Dr. Larson Named President of the Midwest Nursing Research Society
Professor and Division Chair Janet Larson will serve as the leader of this influential nursing research organization.
Dr. Janet Larson, a professor and division chair at the University of Michigan School of Nursing, has been named the new president of the Midwest Nursing Research Society. To the appointment, Dr. Larson brings her own globally recognized expertise as a nurse researcher in the field of pulmonary rehabilitation for people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), focusing specifically on the factors that influence symptoms, physical activity, and the quality of life for people with COPD. In addition to her exemplary research career, Dr. Larson is also a nurse leader on a national scale. During her nearly 25 year record of service, she has held leadership positions within numerous national organizations, including the American Thoracic Society and the Midwest Nursing Research Society, and she was even the co-founder of the Respiratory Nursing Society before becoming its president in 1989.
The Midwest Nursing Research Society (MNRS) has more than 1,300 members and is one of the largest and most influential nursing research organizations in the country. It serves individuals in thirteen states in the Midwest region, and has been transforming how nursing is practiced since 1975 through promoting, disseminating, and using nursing research and by encouraging, supporting, and connecting the next generation of nursing scientists.
