Doctoral Candidate Wins Midwest Nursing Research Society Graduate Research Scholar Award
Mi Sook Jung will use funds to present at the Midwest Nursing Research Society Conference this weekend.
Doctoral candidate at the University of Michigan School of Nursing, Mi Sook Jung, was awarded a Graduate Research Scholar’s award from the Midwest Nursing Research Society. The award is intended to support Mi Sook in presenting her research, “Cultural Difference in Symptom Distress in American and Korean Breast Cancer Survivors,” at conferences and gatherings across the country. This presentation represents just one component of Mi Sook’s larger dissertation which is the first study to examine possible cultural influences on the way women experience symptoms of early stage breast cancer treatment. Among other impacts, Mi Sook’s research will provide empirical support for developing culturally relevant interventions to assist Korean breast cancer patients.
The Midwest Nursing Research Society (MNRS) has more than 1,300 members and is one of the largest and most influential nursing research organizations in the country. It serves individuals in thirteen states in the Midwest region, and has been transforming how nursing is practiced since 1975 through promoting, disseminating, and using nursing research and by encouraging, supporting, and connecting the next generation of nursing scientists.
