Nursing Students Travel to Liberia
Three graduate nursing students recently traveled to rural Liberia, reporting that their three-week experience was "really an eye-opener." Led by Dr. Jody Lori, the group worked in rural hospitals and clinics to hone their midwife and nursing skills in an impoverished country still recovering from years of civil war. Read a press release with more details about the trip.
This type of international travel and service is part of an ongoing effort to expand global clinical study opportunities available to U-M School of Nursing students. In fact, the trip described above was part of a follow-up effort to Dr. Lori's successful work in Liberia in June 2009, when six School of Nursing students spent two week doing similar work.
